No real excuse other than busy, but who isn't?

Attended graduation at Fort High last Sunday. You can see some video from the ceremony on our oldest son's (a Fort High 2009 graduate) YouTube site. He's playing the drums in the musical numbers. We're very proud of him and his classmates. And many thanks to Jeff Zaspel, his staff, and all the teachers and coaches. We're all so fortunate to have you here.

I ran in the annual "Run Fort the Health of It" 5-mile run last Friday evening. Annual except for last year it was cancelled because of the flood. Took the silver medal in my age group and 3rd place overall for the over-18 group. Now I suppose I should tell you that there were only 2 runners in my age group and 3 in the over-18 group. Nevertheless, I graciously accepted the awards and they now add some panache to the shelf behind my desk. Next year I'll be helping promote the event to see if we can get a few more runners to join in. You can find all the information you ever wanted to know about running in Fort Atkinson at RunFort.org. Let's run!

I don't plan to make this a habit, but Pastor Bill's message to the graduates of Trinity Lutheran Church last Sunday was quite moving. I had retrieved a few tissues for my wife before the service started knowing that she would need them. Turned out I needed one myself.

Worth a Listen

It's late Sunday evening. The house is quiet. I'm at my desk enjoying the peace. As I mentioned in my last post, my wife asked me to come along with her to the high school play, The Skin of Our Teeth. It's a bit of an odd play. Certainly a challenge, especially for a high school group. We agreed that the director, Kate Schultz could have picked a less risky play by Thornton Wilder. When all was said and done what we saw was an admirable performance by a group of young adults that clearly put their time in.

Today we enjoyed the Mother's Day Brunch at The Fireside. As we got up to the buffet the head chef was in the middle of the buffet lines making sure everything was just right, and it was. Not surprisingly we all had a bit too much to eat. I believe I did manage to work off the extra calories in our yard this afternoon.

Every Sunday I record video of portions of our service at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Bill Beyer's sermon this morning was about prayer. Worth a listen. Here's the link.

http://video.yahoo.com/watch/5042244

The video starts with the Senior Choir directed by Rick James and also includes a short message for children by Pastor Stephanie Beran. Both are worth a listen as well.

Springtime in Fort

The rain and sunshine of late are starting to work their magic and Fort is becoming greener every day. Last evening we attended a birthday party for a close friend. As the adults stood around and talked, I kept glancing over at the kids running around, playing baseball and football, and just having a grand time in there own little backyard world. I thought about how I could join them, like a few of the more athletic adults had. But I looked around at the people I was with and thought how fortunate I am to be included in this wonderful group of Fort folks. I'll just stay here.

My wife asked me to go with her to the Fort Atkinson High School Theatre's performence of The Skin of Our Teeth this weekend. And we'll have plenty to keep us busy with a small bathroom renovation project. For Mother's Day Sunday we have reservations at The Fireside. The Mary Hoard Art Show is still open at the Hoard Museum. And the Fort Farmers Market opens today. That's a sure sign of springtime in Fort.

First entry for EverythingFort.blogpost.com

Oakhill Web Design is pleased to announce the start of the EverythingFort.com blog.
